Young Lives Lost in Fire

GOPIO Malaysia is saddened with the disaster that killed 23 people, mostly children in the blaze at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz Centre in Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

GOPIO Malaysia extends its condolences to the families of all the victims. We have lost many innocent young lives. We also thank the rescuers who managed to save five to six individuals during the blaze.

We understand that the building plan has not been approved for occupation and operation. It is the responsibility of educational institutions and the authorities to ensure that every building is safe for occupancy and is approved by the Fire Department.

Incidents like this should not repeat.
