Chennai and other coastal areas in Tamil Nadu are reeling from the worst floods in a century. GOPIO Malaysia, MAIUG and Tamil Malar daily is jointly organizing relief work and emergency supplies for Chennai and other affected cities in Tamil Nadu. We appeal to you to join hands with us and support those in need. Any effort on your part can make a big difference to someone whose life is in dire straits.
This is a coordinated effort through established ground contacts of GOPIO's International Network of PIO's in India and Tamil Nadu in particular.
As a moral and emotional support to our fellow PIO's, GOPIO feels strongly that there is a need to provide assistance in whatever ways and means possible irregardless of whether they need it or not. This relief effort is done on the grounds of compassion and brotherhood.
The Govt of India is fully engaged on this issue and has allocated enough resources for relief efforts. The People of Indian Origin in Malaysia should also do our part and offer a helping hand in times of need.
The Chennai Flood Relief Fund aims to provide a little assistance from Malaysian PIOs as a show of support both moral and emotional.
