Siddha and Ayurveda Conference 2025

On 12 July 2025, the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Malaysia organised the Siddha and Ayurveda Conference 2025 at the International Youth Centre. The conference brought together practitioners, researchers, health professionals, and members of the public to explore traditional Indian systems of medicine and their relevance to contemporary healthcare.

The programme was led by GOPIO Malaysia Treasurer and GOPIO International Secretary-General, Ravendiran Arjunan, and attracted approximately 300 participants, reflecting strong public interest in traditional and holistic health practices.

Promoting Traditional Systems of Medicine

The conference was graced by Vanitha R Muralikumar as the Chief Guest. The programme was organised in collaboration with Pertubuhan Perubatan Tradisional India Malaysia (PEPTIM) and received support from the High Commission of India in Malaysia.

The conference highlighted two of India’s longstanding traditional medical systems—Siddha Medicine and Ayurveda—which emphasise a holistic approach to health, focusing on the balance between body, mind, and environment. Speakers and practitioners shared insights on traditional remedies, preventive healthcare approaches, and the integration of holistic practices into modern lifestyles.

Importance of Cultural Wellness Initiatives

Traditional systems of medicine continue to attract global interest for their emphasis on natural therapies, preventive care, and holistic wellbeing. Conferences such as this provide an important platform for knowledge exchange among practitioners, researchers, and the public, while encouraging informed dialogue on the role of traditional medical systems in contemporary healthcare.

For the Malaysian Indian community, such initiatives also help preserve and promote cultural knowledge associated with traditional healing practices, ensuring that these traditions remain accessible and understood by future generations.

Impact and Future Engagement

The conference successfully enhanced public awareness of alternative and traditional medical practices, while also fostering stronger networks among practitioners and organisations involved in holistic healthcare.

Building on the positive response, GOPIO Malaysia plans to organise future editions of the Siddha and Ayurveda Conference, providing a continuing platform for professional dialogue, research exchange, and community education.

The Siddha and Ayurveda Conference 2025 further reinforced GOPIO Malaysia’s commitment to promoting cultural wellness and traditional knowledge systems, while encouraging broader engagement with holistic approaches to health and wellbeing.
