GOPIO International Business Summit, Exhibition and Awards 2025

From 22 to 24 August 2025, representatives from the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Malaysia participated in the GOPIO International Business Summit, Exhibition and Awards 2025, held at the Old Port Grounds Exhibition and Trade Centre in Puducherry.

The Malaysian delegation was led by GOPIO Malaysia President Gunasekaren Sreerangan, and comprised 73 delegates, including entrepreneurs, business leaders, and professionals interested in exploring international trade and investment opportunities.

A Global Platform for Diaspora Entrepreneurs

The summit was attended by over 510 delegates from 30 countries, making it one of the most prominent gatherings of diaspora entrepreneurs and business leaders within the GOPIO network. The event was organised with the support of partners including First World Community, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (FICCIM), and Malaysia India Business Association (MIBA).

The programme was graced by the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and the Chief Minister of Puducherry, reflecting strong institutional support from the local government for diaspora-led economic initiatives.

Strengthening International Business Opportunities

The GOPIO International Business Summit provided a platform for entrepreneurs to explore trade opportunities, investment prospects, and cross-border collaborations across various sectors. For Malaysian participants, the summit offered valuable insights into business opportunities available outside Malaysia, particularly in India and other international markets.

Through panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking sessions, delegates were able to exchange ideas, establish professional contacts, and explore avenues for expanding their businesses within the global PIO business ecosystem.

The exhibition component of the summit also enabled participating organisations and entrepreneurs to showcase products, services, and business initiatives, increasing their visibility among international stakeholders.

As the summit is organised on an annual basis, the next GOPIO International Business Summit is scheduled to be held in Port Louis, where Malaysian entrepreneurs are expected to continue their engagement with the wider global diaspora business network.
