A Remarkable Burst of Colour and Culture
In a celebration of culture and creativity, GOPIO Malaysia achieved a significant milestone by creating the largest Rangoli portrait in Malaysia. This noteworthy feat unfolded as part of the PIO Day and PIO International Festival celebration, adding a burst of colour to the festivities.
Led by renowned Rangoli artist Vijaya Mohan of Singapore, the project commenced at 7.00 am and concluded by 4.00 pm on the 2nd of June 2023. More than 30 individuals assisted Vijaya Mohan in bringing the Rangoli portrait to life.
The Rangoli was unveiled just in time for the visit of Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia, and His Excellency Shri V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs, India at the inaugural PIO Day celebration, adding a touch of cultural splendour to the occasion.
The creation, a depiction of Swami Vivekananda, now holds the record for the largest Rangoli portrait in Malaysia. This accomplishment highlights GOPIO Malaysia’s commitment to promoting cultural richness and fostering community engagement. GOPIO Malaysia’s entry into the Malaysia Book of Records with its Rangoli portrait is a testament to the boundless possibilities when art, culture, and community converge.
