GOPIO Malaysia 25th Anniversary Banquet 2023

The GOPIO Malaysia 25th Anniversary Banquet, held on 2nd December 2023 at Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, was a significant event marking a quarter-century of GOPIO Malaysia’s contributions to both local and international communities. The evening featured an atmosphere conducive to networking, fine dining, and a series of cultural performances, providing attendees with a meaningful and memorable experience. The banquet served as a platform for recognising the organisation’s achievements, fostering new connections, and strengthening existing relationships.

Prominent figures in attendance included YB Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources, Malaysia; H.E. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, India; YB Senator Saraswathy Kandasamy, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development, Malaysia; and H.E. B.N. Reddy, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia. Their presence underscored the event’s international significance, facilitating important interactions and enhancing its global profile.

The banquet commemorated the Silver Jubilee of GOPIO Malaysia, celebrating 25 years of engagement since its formal registration. This milestone recognised the contributions of GOPIO’s founders, members, affiliates, and supporters, who have played a pivotal role in the organisation’s success. The evening was further enlivened by cultural performances showcasing Malaysia’s diverse heritage, including traditional Malay dances, Chinese lion dances, Indian classical performances, and Sabahan, Sarawakian, and Orang Asli tribal dances.

The celebration attracted approximately 700 guests, comprising leaders and members of GOPIO Chapters, as well as representatives from supporting organisations worldwide. Adding to the significance of the evening, the GOPIO International Business Excellence Awards were held in conjunction with the banquet. This prestigious ceremony honoured exemplary achievements in the business sector, further showcasing GOPIO Malaysia’s commitment to recognising and promoting excellence within the global People of Indian Origin (PIO) community.
