GOPIO Malaysia Youth organised the 2nd GOPIO Malaysia Youth Conference on the 6th of November 2022 at IEG Campus in Kuala Lumpur. This was the first physical event for the youth since the Covid-19 pandemic forced all activities to go virtual. The event was organised with the support of IEG Campus.

The 2nd GOPIO Malaysia Youth Conference theme was Excellence through Knowledge and Empowerment. The Conference focused on 3 key areas namely financial literacy, green environment and political responsibility.

The Conference began with Welcome Address and programme overview by Mr Katiresan Gunasegaran, the Organising Chairman. Keynote Address was delivered by Mr Nareash Pillay Ravindran, who stressed the importance of knowledge and calculated action on financial, environmental and political matters.

The first session was on financial literacy and intelligent investment. Mr Yoogen Velu a Financial Advisor spoke on Financial Literacy and Dr Vijeyan Samydevan, Chairman of Tera 1 Sdn Bhd spoke on Smart Investments. The financial literacy activity session was facilitated by Ms Priiya Paramasivam.

The second session was on youth roles for a greener planet. Mr Robert R.Rao, Chief Executive Officer of Rues Micro Media Resources and Dr Umaiyal Munusamy, a Plant Biotechnologist and Science Communicator spoke on the subject. Dr Umaiyal also conducted group activity for the youth delegates facilitated by Ms Yugah.

The third session was on the Know India Programme and other India scholarship schemes by 2 personnel from the High Commission of India Kuala Lumpur. Mr Naman Garg Assistant Attache (Commerce and Education) and Mr Meyyappan, Marketing Officer (Education) also encouraged and answered questions from the delegates.

The fourth session was a panel discussion on political knowledge, youth leadership and responsibility. Dato’ C.M.Vignaesvaran, Chairman of Ramssol Group Bhd and Mr Kiran Raj Sathivel, a Youth Parliament Member participated in this session. The panel discussion was moderated by GOPIO International Youth President Mr Seshugan Rao. He also prepared an online questionnaire and presented the survey results for analysis. It was an exciting session with numerous questions from the youth delegates.

During the closing, Mr Gunasekaren Sreerangan, the President of GOPIO Malaysia, concluded with a closing address. Mr Ganesha Kumaran, the Youth President of GOPIO Malaysia, voted for thanks.

Also present in the Conference were Mr Sashidharan Santhesegaran, Secretary General of GOPIO Malaysia cum Youth Advisor, GOPIO life members Mr Suriyanarayanan, Dr Rengadhar Horia and Mr Thankikasalam. 20 youth delegates from tertiary institutions and NGOs participated in the forum. A team of 11 GOPIO youth and young professional members were involved in the organising of this 2nd GOPIO Malaysia Youth Conference.
