On 26th April 2024, GOPIO Malaysia organised the webinar “Study in India Opportunity – Explore ICCR’s 2024-25 Scholarship” via Zoom. Chaired by Mr. Sashidharan Santhesegaran, the session featured Madam C. Sushma, Counsellor (Commerce & Education) at the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur, as the chief guest and main speaker. Attended by 55 participants, the webinar aimed to promote ICCR scholarships as a pathway to higher education in India and to foster cross-cultural appreciation.
The session highlighted three major scholarship schemes offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR):
These programmes cover various academic disciplines, including Indian culture, dance, music, and sculpture, at undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD levels. Benefits include full university tuition coverage, a monthly stipend, book allowances, and hostel accommodation. Madam Sushma explained the eligibility criteria and application procedures in detail, encouraging participants to explore these opportunities to enhance their academic and cultural exposure.
The webinar effectively showcased India as a premier destination for higher education, offering a combination of academic excellence and cultural immersion. Participants expressed keen interest in the opportunities and valued the direct engagement with an expert. The event underscored the role of ICCR scholarships in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Malaysia and India, empowering students to pursue their aspirations while building a deeper connection with Indian heritage.
