From September 14 to 16, 2024, the PIO International Festival 2024 at Kandiah Hall featured a special initiative offering free legal consultations. This valuable program provided attendees with access to qualified legal advice on a variety of issues, empowering individuals to address their legal concerns with professional guidance. The initiative was co-organized by the Hindu Lawyers of Malaysia and spearheaded by Mr. Rajo Kuppan, a past GOPIO Malaysia Secretary General and founding member of HILMA.
Over the course of three days, more than 50 individuals benefited from the free consultations, which addressed a range of legal matters, including family law, property disputes, employment issues, and more. Participants had the opportunity to receive personalized advice, enabling them to navigate their challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
This initiative underscored the festival’s commitment to supporting and empowering the PIO community. By providing accessible legal assistance, it addressed an essential aspect of community welfare and highlighted the importance of equitable access to professional services.
The free legal consultations complemented the broader goals of the festival by fostering community engagement and strengthening support systems. It not only resolved immediate legal concerns but also educated attendees on their rights and options, encouraging informed decision-making.
By combining legal expertise with cultural celebration, the initiative reinforced the festival’s role as a platform for holistic community support. It served as a reminder of the importance of addressing practical needs while honoring heritage, leaving a positive and lasting impact on the attendees.
