Selvam Kanniah 42, founder and CEO of Maxvue Vision Sdn Bhd -is an exporter of contact lenses and lens care products to over 50 countries worldwide.
Born in a rural part of Muar, Selvam used to walk home 7.5 km twice a week from his computer classes. The energy and enthusiasm lead him to secure a scholarship from Sime Darby to pursue an engineering degree from a local university, with his deep passion in software and electronics, Selvam went on to complete his Master's Degree in electrical engineering from UTM.
In late 1999, Selvam got married and moved to Singapore. He worked for software development projects ranging from test systems to smart electronics devices. In 2002, he joined the electronics giant Sharp Electronics R&D division and became a chief software engineer. His invention in HD LCD TV picture quality improvement had been submitted to Japan HQ for patent application. Though he enjoyed his software profession, Selvam had always dreamed to build a successful business back home and regularly brainstorm for new ideas with his wife, Viji.
Today Maxvue Vision Sdn Bhd had registered six brands and exporting close to 52 countries worldwide. This was achieved through outstanding product quality, aggressive marketing support, and regular participants in international trade show worldwide.
Selvam constantly strives to make Maxvue Vision a global leader in the colored contact lens business. To realize his vision, he leads a creative marketing team, actively engaging them in innovative new designs and continuous improvement programs.
As part of his social responsibility, Selvam actively supports various programs for Tamil schools, welfare homes and employs disabled persons as part of his workforce organized by PERKESO.
