YB Senator Datuk Chandrasekar Suppiah

Datuk Chandrasekar Suppiah currently serves as the Executive Director and the Executive Vice President of Ranhill Berhad, a public listed firm in Malaysia involved in business activities ranging from Engineering, construction and infrastructure.

The 49-year-old businessman was born and brought up in Kuala Lumpur and completed his A levels in Singapore. He later obtained a law degree from the University of Buckingham in England. He is married to Datin Dr Meera ThalayaSingam , who is pediatric consultant at the General Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

After his studies, Chandrasekar Suppiah, through his company Pro Majestic Sdn Bhd introduced a Tamil program for RTM named ‘Nadaswara’ which is gained immense popularity among Indian viewers.

Later he forayed into power generation sector and set of his eyes on India which was fast emerging as an economy hungry for power generating projects. He played a key role in establishing the Dheeru Power gen Private Limited in 2005 which implemented a 3 x 300MW coal fired power plant project in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. He was the project and executive director of the project responsible for the promotion, planning, and implementation of the project from commercial, technical, and financial aspects.

Chandrasekar Suppiah’ s active participants in politics has earned him a string of positions in Malaysian Indian congress, the component party representation the Indian community in the ruling Barisan National. He is the chairman of MIC Bandar Tasik Selatan Branch and the Chairman of MIC Wilayah Persekutuan Building Fund.

He also plays a prominent role in the activities of social organizations and business chambers. He has served as a council of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry an is the patron of Sungai Besi Tamil School and Bukit Jalil Tamil School. He is also a trustee of the Sivan temple in Jalan Sungai Besi and an advisor to the Association of Malaysian Indian Artists.
