Datuk Dr. Haji Mohamed Haniffa was born on October 1949 and was the educated at the Methodist Boys school Sentul till form three and went on to complete his form five at Sultan Abdul Aziz School, in Kuala Selangor.
He was a keen sportsman winning several trophies during his school days. In 1977, he left for India to pursue a degree in medicine at the Tanjor Medical College and completed the MBBS degree in 1976.
Upon his return to Malaysia in 1977, Dr Haji Mohamed Haniffa joined the Klang Hospital as a Medical officer in 1978. Concurrently, he volunteered to serve in the army for 2 years and was commissioned as a Captain.
In 1982, he commenced on his own private practice and set up several clinics in Klang, Shah Alam and Kapar. While in private practice, he realized the threat of communicable diseases and the danger it posed to the Malaysian people, especially with the influx of a large number of foreign workers. FOMENA, his brainchild has been initially accorded a 25 years concession agreement by the government of Malaysia. As the managing director of FOMENA and assisted by a qualified staff of over 200, he set about to carry out his mission.
His passion for education can be seen with the setting up of MAHSA college in 2004 as an IPTS offering diploma programmes and twinning degree programmes with overseas partner universities. Since then, Datuk Dr. Haniffa has taken the institution to great heights within a period of 6 years. MAHSA has now and enrolment of not less than 8000 students studying in 20 different approved and accredited course programmes. The college has been upgraded to the status of a university college in the year 2009 and the confers its own degree in various disciplines.
Today MAHSA college offers a wide range of certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters programmes in the faculty of medicine, dentistry, nursing, allied health science, pharmacy, postgraduate studies and pre university studies and has won many accolades for choice, management and excellence.
For his enterprising work, Dr Mohamed Haniffa was conferred the title of Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) which carries the title of Dato by the sultan of Pahang on the occasion of his Majesty’s 68th birthday ob 24th October 1998 and the title of PJN by the Yang di Pertuan Agong on 6 June 2002.
