Dato’ K. Kumaraendran was born on 11th March 1942 in Johor Bahru to Mr. Kumarasamy Ariacuddy and Madam Parameswari Subramaniam and is the eldest of six siblings in the family.
Dato K. Kumaraendran studied at Batu Pahat High School and eventually went to read law in London in 1966. Dato’ K. Kumaraendran was called to the English Bar in July 1969 whilst a member of Lincolns’ Inn. He thereafter returned to Malaya and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 25th May 1970.
Dato’ K. Kumaraendran has been active practice ever since and a leading member of the Criminal Bar. He was the chairman of Penang Bar from 1988 – 1990 and the chairman of the Criminal Law Committee of the Bar Council for several terms. Dato’ K. Kumaraendran was the representative of the Penang Bar from the 1982 – 1990.
For his services to the public, and to the legal fraternity he was conferred a DSPN by the government of Penang in 2004. Dato’ K. Kumaraendran is married to Datin Eileen Regina Alexander and have 2 children, Devkumar and Lavinia, both lawyers from Lincoln’s Inn and currently in practice.
