Ms. Sothie Paul-Duraisamy studied at the Methodist Girls School and the Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur and went on to study medicine at the University of Singapore. During her two years there she also sat for her LRSM performers exam as a result of which she was recommended for a scholarship to study music in London. It was a tough decision, but she eventually won the blessing of her parents and pursued her first love at the Royal College of Music. She studied under Angus Morrison, a student of Maurice Revel. She won an exhibition (scholarship) and the Borwick prize and was selected to be the soloist with the orchestra at their annual concert.

After graduation, on her way back to Malaysia, she met Louis Paul in India and married him soon after. Thanks to his career postings, they have lived in India, Trinidad, the Netherlands and Britain, and most recently in Washington, DC, before returning to Kuala Lumpur. While in the Netherlands, Paul-Duraisamy further her piano studies at the Koninklijke (Royal) Conservatorium voor Muziek in The Hague.

Paul- Duraisamy has performed in Australia, Britain, Hong, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Trinidad and the United States in solo recitals, two-piano concerts with her daughter, on radio and television and as soloist with orchestras. She has also has the honour of performing in the presence of the Queen of the Netherlands, Queen Beatrix, former Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Tun Hussein Onn and Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamed, and the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Max Richards.

While performing and conducting choirs around the world, she has also been a sought after teacher, whose piano students have won prestigious competitions in the Netherlands and at the Royal College of Music's Junior program.
