Invitation to Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2017 in Bangalore, India

GOPIO Malaysia is pleased to invite you to Pravasi Bharatiya Divas from 8th to 9th January 2017 in Bangalore, India. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is traditionally held on 9th January every year to celebrate the People of Indian Origin (PIOs) in India. January 9 was chosen as the day to celebrate this occasion, as Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest Pravasi, returned to India from South Africa on this day in 1915.

PBD 2017 in Bangalore is a Convention for the People of Indian Origin worldwide and has many highlights. During the PBD, the President of India, the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka will address the PIOs. Throughout this celebration, delegates are served with the best Indian cuisine and finest of Indian music and dance.

PBD conventions are being held since 2003 and thirteen PBDs have been held earlier in various places in India. These Conventions provide a platform for the PIOs to engage with the government and people of the land of their ancestors for mutual benefits. PBD is also very useful for networking among the overseas Indian Community residing in various parts of the world and enables them to share their experiences in various fields. PBD provides a forum for discussing key issues concerning the Indian Diaspora.

GOPIO Malaysia has sturdily lobbied for the PBD and is a strong promoter for the Convention. The Annual GOPIO Dialogue with Government of India is held a day after the PBD on 10th January 2016 in Bangalore, India. The PBD Youth Conference will be held a day earlier to the PBD on 7th January.
