Seshugan Rao Sampasiva Rao, GOPIO International Youth President and former GOPIO Malaysia Youth President was selected for the ITEC 2022-2023 Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation programme. This ITEC programme provided Seshugan Rao with the opportunity to engage in an immersive Robotics Training Programme from 20th to 31st March 2023 at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). Fully sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, India, the program congregated a diverse assemblage of engineering educators and professionals from across the globe. This intensive course in robotics concentrated on motion planning, robot programming, perception in robotics, and autopilot mechanisms, unveiling novel vistas in the realm of robotics.

The ITEC 2022-2023 program, facilitated by the High Commission of India, extended an exclusive invitation to GOPIO Malaysia, with Seshugan Rao emerging as the chosen candidate out of six applicants from GOPIO Malaysia. Seshugan Rao’s pursuit of knowledge at IIT Kanpur was facilitated by interactions with esteemed scholars such as Dr. Ashish Dutta, Dr. Mangal Kothari, Dr. KS Venkatesh, Dr. Keval Ramani, Dr. SP Das, Dr. Bhaskar Dasgupta, and Dr. KR Guruprasad, all luminaries in their respective domains within the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Aerospace departments.

In addition to academic pursuits, the training program provided participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in India’s rich cultural heritage. Seshugan Rao, during his stay at the Visitor’s Hostel on the IIT Kanpur campus, engaged in cross-cultural dialogues and formed meaningful connections with fellow participants from diverse backgrounds across the globe. Furthermore, a curated weekend study tour of iconic historical landmarks including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri offered a harmonious fusion of cultural appreciation.
