The Indian Diaspora has been a unique part of Ugandan history and Culture and has experienced multiple shades of ties and relationship with not only the native Ugandan population but also with the Ugandan government. Since the time of Uganda’s independence, the Indian Diaspora has played a key role in Uganda’s growth and development either directly or indirectly.
The Indian Diaspora in Uganda has seen multiple shades of ties and relationship from being almost at the top of the hierarchical food chain to being expelled and then again restarting their lives. Furthermore in contemporary times and for the future the Indian Diaspora plays a key role in bridging the gap between the Ugandan and Indian governments. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Uganda in 2018 is also another step towards promoting Diaspora in Uganda and for generating business and bilateral opportunities and ties.
Thus this paper titled ‘Trajectory of Indian Diaspora in Uganda: Past Historical Roots and Vision 2030’ helps in analysing the graph of Indian Diaspora in Uganda their past, their present and the prospects of their future.
