150th Year Celebration of Mahathma Gandhi Birthday

GOPIO Malaysia is organizing few events for the one year celebration of Mahathma Gandhi. The first was held at SJK(T) Persiaran Raja Muda Musa (Watson), Port Klang on the 11th October 2018 at 10.30am. Mr K. Ayyanar, the Director of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre addressed at the programme. Mr Tamilarasu, Guru Besar of SJK(T) Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, Mr Sugumaran, Deputy Chairman of School Board Member, Mr Selvarajoo, Chairman of GOPIO International were also present. The best 30 students performed in the quiz were rewarded.

Total of 200 students and teachers of the school participated in this programme. A quiz on Mahathma Gandhi’s life and teachings was conducted by the teachers for the standard four, five and six students prior to the event.

A profound and world known leader, popularly called Mahathma Gandhi, 150th year birthday is celebrated for one year (2nd October 2018 – 2nd October 2019). This project is jointly organized by High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre together with various Malaysian NGOs. Commenced on 2nd October 2018 many talk, discussion and exhibitions have been planned at various vicinities.

GOPIO is planning programmes which would enable our younger generation to know the value of life and teachings of Mahathma Gandhi.
