The 11th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, the flagship event of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India, will be held in Kochi (Kerela) on 7-9 January 2013.  The Prime Minister of India will inaugurate this annual event of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs on January 8, and the President of India will deliver the valedictory address on January 9.

2.  The PBD Convention provides a unique platform for overseas Indians to interact among themselves, with the Government of India and the Government of various Indian States. It is a forum where the Government of India showcases investment opportunities in India and its potential in various sectors.In the forthcoming PBD, the Government of Kerala will be the state partner.

3. The following are the Highlights of the programme of the conference

Pre-conference seminars on:

  • Issues of NRIs in the Gulf
  • Tourism
  • Skill development
  • Pure sciences.

Plenary session with Hon’ble Union Ministers of India on:

  • India growth: Greater Opportunities
  • Heritage & Diaspora
  • Engaging Young Overseas Indians.

Plenary session on Investment Opportunities in States

Concurrent Sessions during the conference on:

  • Innovation &Technology
  • Meeting of Diaspora Organizations
  • India’s Growing Soft Power
  • Overseas Indians and India.

Enthusiastic participation from the heterogenous and diverse overseas Indian community spread across the globe is expected in the forthcoming PBD. The conference aims to have a meaningful and interactive event that would address the issues and concerns of the Overseas Indian community effectively.
