Revolving fund to help Indian students in Penang

MAKKAL Osai reported that the Penang Hindu Endowment Board had set aside a RM1mil to RM2mil revolving fund to help the state’s Indian university students.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister Prof Dr P. Ramasamy said that financial aid would be given to students taking up medicine, business technology and other subjects.
About RM150,000 was disbursed to Indian students at the universities.
> Malaysia Nanban reported that the Indian community had been urged to read Tamil newspapers as they contained many articles of religious values.
The head of the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Johor branch R. Ramakrishnan said that parents need to motivate and encourage their children to attend religious classes organised by Hindu Sangam and other religious organisations.
