Anonymous man donates laptop to ailing Indian kid in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, June 27 – Only his beaming face conveyed the happiness of Malaysian Indian child R. Vicknesh, suffering from a brain disorder, on receiving a laptop as a gift from a man who preferred to remain anonymous.
Vicknesh’s father M. Ravi was delighted after an unknown reader of The Star newspaper sent across the laptop.
The newspaper had highlighted the wish of the child, who is suffering from cerebral palsy, on Father’s Day June 20. It had mentioned Ravi’s ambition to save enough for a computer for his son.
Ravi was at a loss for words when he saw the joy on his son’s face after the eight-year-old received a laptop computer as a gift.
‘I feel a bit sad that it was not me who bought the computer for him. But look at him, he is so excited,’ he said when the laptop was presented to his son here.
The new laptop was donated by a reader of The Star who was touched by the challenges faced by Ravi and his wife in caring for their son.
‘The computer will help Vicknesh to learn how to write because his condition makes it difficult for him to move his fingers, so he has trouble holding a pencil or pen. Like other boys his age, Vicknesh loves computer games,’ said Ravi.
The generous reader, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that he wanted to help the family as others had helped him when he needed it most.
‘It is my way of repaying those who helped me earlier in life,’ he was quoted as saying.
